did anybody note what external video options were available when working with this new codec?”It just normal, like choosing any other codec. It will simply show up as another Easy Setup or A/V option.

Oh sorry, you meant will you need a card or something? All the AJA Kona cards will support it as just another codec and of course the Io HD will support it.

April 16, 2007 at 4:20 amI guess i was wondering whether I might be able to drop mixed SD and HD formats (including HDV and/or XDCAM HD codecs) into a ProRes422 timeline, in order to make use of the HD 10 bit color space …. and yet get a relatime downconvert to DV out of firewire. Yes, it is entirely possible I have lost touch with reality at this point, I should have slept in a little longer.
I wonder how long it will take Matrox to support ProRes422 with their MXO box?

April 16, 2007 at 4:31 amno doubt. however my question is with regards to preview/output when working with ProRes 422 timeline (without additional hardware) … or even moer specifically, when cutting XDCAM HD on a laptop 😉
any insights?

April 16, 2007 at 4:44 amUnless I’m missing something, this only seems useful if you want to capture ProRes on a laptop.
Otherwise save some money and just get a capture card and setup to capture ProRes.
