It never ceases to amaze me hoe so many people want so much for free or for next to nothing.

I used to work for an employer who wanted an experienced editors at next to no pay. And or course all the time he was padding his own wallet, purchasing a new car and a nice big house. A coworker there also rented a place from him and had to borrow money from his in-laws because the boss would not even pay him enough to make rent. When asked about this all he would say is thats life. Needless to say when I was let go because he couldn’t afford to make payroll I was not disappointed, I already looking for work. He also got ticked off because he had to pay unemployment.

He just never understood that to keep skilled editors he needed to pay more them McDonalds.

This was my first editing job out of college, and as I look back I am actually grateful that I worked there. I did get some experience under my belt, and I did learn a lot about how a business should be run, because his business practices were horrible. And I mean HORRIBLE. How he has made it in this business so long I don’t know.

When buying a car if you asked for a Lexus and only were willing to pay for a old rusty truck with out a engine the dealer would laugh at you. I think we should do the same.

You get what you pay for, if you will only pay little to nothing then you will get little to noting of value in return.

There is no way a 667 old ti-powerbook can use 2GB or ram. Crucial is right 1GB is the MAX.

I would also ask yourself is it worth upgrading such an old computer. In my opinion it is not.

What version of FCP did the capturing?
How was the footage captured?
What are your timeline setting?

Your computer will run FCP 6 perfectly fine. As far as memory goes you already have 2GB which is fine, but I say if you can max the thing out.

As far as anything else you are going to have to be more specific as to what you are wanting. your question is vary vague. Memory on the computer is not a setting, it is a hardware configuration. And cache usually refers to temporary files, that can be deleted at any time, such as your web browsers cache it keeps a cache of websites you have been to so that it can pull them up faster when you go back to them. They can be deleted at any time, it will hurt nothing.

So much of your question makes no sense at all.

Make sure that your camera is set to down-convert from HDV to DV

You can do that to if you really want to it jut makes more work for you and many more potential problems.

In preferences under advanced uncheck “Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library”

In doing this it is MUCH easier for iTunes to loose the location of where your music is. iTunes will look to where ever you had that file when you added it to itunes, if you later move it iTunes no longer knows where it is.

Besides it is so much easier to back up your iTunes library if it is all in one location, just simply copy it to another drive to make your backup. Or do as I do and keep it on a mirrored raid, so both drives automatically have a copy of whatever you put on the drive.

IMHO YOU WOULD BE STUPID NOT TO LET ITUNES KEEP YOUR MUSIC ORGANIZED AND ALL ON ONE DRIVE.

If you have a portable computer and don’t have room on the internal drive for everything, then simply make 2 iTunes libraries. Keep your main big one on an external and a smaller library on the internal drive. To choose the one you want just hold down option when opening iTunes.

A even better solution would be to get a eSATA card for the express slot and then use a eSATA hard drive. The hard drive performance would be much much better.

No No you just need to tell iTunes where the library will be located. Copy the iTunes folder from your music folder to a external drive, then open itunes while holding down the option key. Select choose library and then choose the one on the external drive.

Simple as that.

Just remember that the external drive needs to be connected to use your iTunes library.

try repairing your disk permissions
