Those settings look right, double check the camera, play back settings.

If that douse not do it then, see if you can capture in DV this will let you know if the firewire connection on the camera and your cable are working.

True not everyone has quicktime, maybe it is just he type of people that I do work for. My Clients tend to be younger, and into music themselves, hence they all have iTunes & quicktime.

Personally I have not seen a windows computer in years that did not have quicktime on it. Because iTunes comes with quicktime everyone has it now.

    Use H264

Are you capturing HDV or DV?
If you are capturing DV was it shot in HDV?
What are your settings in FCP.

Your settings in FCP determine what type of video signal FCP looks for. If the camera is not set to send that signal out the firewire connection then, its like the computer is speaking english and the camera is speaking german.

If you are trying to capture HDV and have FCP set for HDV yet have your camera set to send out a DV signal then they are speaking different languages.

Remember the FX1 can play back video shot in HDV as DV footage. So if you are trying to capture HDV but the camera is set to send out a DV signal, they will not communicate.

Could you be more specific as to what you are trying to do and exactly which disc you are asking about.

I when you say “G5 or Tiger software first” you are referring to the system disc that came with the G5. You are not clear at all about this. If the G5 came with 10.4 aka tiger then just use those disks. Did you upgrade to tiger later? Again you never said. If so you can just reinstall the OS from the tiger discs.

Oh I am over it. I now how a great job making more then that old employer ever will pay somebody (despite all his empty promises)

I do not think that your wall-mart comparison really fits quite well. Wall-mart buys there products in bulk keeping the costs down. Video production douse not come in bulk. At wall-mart all there products are pre-made, they do not sell custom bikes in the bike. In video production it is a custom thing man.

Once the person who was asking for the “free” work get there product and realize that it is not the quality that they wanted hopefully they will have to pay to get a quality professional video made.
