your power supply is probably going out
dont plug it in to long any heat can effect other parts of the computer and make them go bad

Have you tried restarting the computer
if that dous not work try trashing the FCP preferences

You can do an advanced search on ebay and select Completed listings only. see if any of them are similer in condition to yours and set the pricing similer to those

No matter when you buy a computer a few months later there will be some thing newer and faster.

All I have to say is that you better be charging the client by the hour because it is going to take a liong long time to get it to loot like it was never there. If he dosnt want to pay for it use a simple blur over it.

yes DVD SP will make it SD unless you specify that you are makiing a HD DVD in the disc settings

Most people will export using compressor befor going to DVD SP that way you have more control as to how it will come out.

Unless you have access to an HD DVD Burner i assume that you are making a regular SD DVD in wich case exporting as SD video is not going to make a difference in the quality of the final product.
