Missing Edit Tab in FCP 7

Yeah, shortcuts are maybe the answer, but very disconcerting. I suspect aftermarket plugs.

I had this sort of thing happening once, but fixed it with maintenance or something OTHER than rebuilding or reinstalling anything. I didnt trash prefs either. I have found that FCP prefs are rarely an issue after 10 years of using FCP. Trashing them often fixes a user error however.
Have you tried all software updates? Plugin updates?

I have the edit tab of the drop down menu bar also continuously disappearing as well. Have trashed preferences, repaired permissions and run disc warrior and still no luck. the only way I get it back is to close and reopen FCP 7. I have a back pro 8core with 4 gigs of ram. This happens early on in a project without much editing and no other programs open. Any clues. Is this a re instal of operating system problem. It just started happening yesterday. Really annoying as I use the drop down menu a lot.

Hi Gigi,
Open a new project and Copy&Paste the whole Browser content; save it with a different name.
Simple but may works.

You are now a member of the club.
There is no known cure for this condition. I find in comes and goes in waves. Sometimes it doesn’t happen for several months – sometimes 3 times a week. It’s pointless contacting Apple. Just close down FCP and reopen. Be glad it isn’t constant crashing.

That is frustrating. I have a one on one with my FCP trainer and Genius bar and they think they have cracked it. I’m going in next week so I will let you know what they say and if their plan works.
