  • Missing Edit Tab in FCP 7

My edit tab in FCP 7 keeps disappearing. I can re-boot and it comes back for a bit, but trashing preferences with Preference Manager doesn’t fix it. Suggestions?

I’m sorry, but my mind is blanking. What’s the edit tab?

Final Cut Pro, File, Edit, View…… etc.
At the top of the program in the top bar.
Says: “Edit” – it keeps disappearing
(contained it it’s drop down are ‘copy, cut etc.’

That’s not a tab. Never wouldve guessed that. You should probably trash your preferences, repair permissions, and run disk warrior. If you haven’t simply rebooted your computer that might be all it takes. But I just assume you’ve tried that.

Did all except ‘disc warrior’ so I will take that tip and then check in.

It only does this in FCP?

Do you have Boris open or something?

Yeah, only in FCP. Ken Stone has never heard of this happening either. I suspect the program is corrupted.

[John Marsh] “I suspect the program is corrupted.”

I’d go deeper than the program…but first:

Easiest thing to do woudl be uninstall and reinstall FCP. If it remains, then unfortuantely it’s time to rebuld the whole system.

Does it completey disappear and leave a space? Or do the rest of the menus ripple down?

    Rest of program ripples down.

So the Edit menu is essentially replaced by the View menu? That is a really weird one.

    How do you do that?
