highest bit depth with FCP

oh no jeremy I was saying that I am the one making the uncompressed. Basically this is how it went
UNREAL =images seq which went to comp
Comp took it in to fusion and then exported it out of fusion (as an image seq i think) and make it a qt movie “none” from a pc. everything is fine with the colors. They give me te “none” everything is still good with the colors. Since my final output it uncompressed 8 I take the none and export it as uncompressed 8. That is where i get my issues. The uncompressed 8 looks worse then the Sorenson. I did do a few tests i exported it out of AT, I took it into FC on a uncompressed 8 seq and exported it. Nothing seems to work -
I just changed the sequence settings /video processing from REnder in 8-bit YUV to ALways render in RGB and it does look a little better. But still not like it should. Does that sound like something that might effect this? What is the “render all yuv material”

How did you do this step is what I am asking. Qt conversion? QT movie?

No, you sholdn’t do that as 8 bit is a YUV codec.

I did it in Quicktime. But then after seeing the results I took the NONE into finalcut and placed it in a uncompressed 8 seq and did file export quick time.
After seeing that and not being happy with it I took the none file into a “none” seq. and then rendered it using quick time conversion.
I also did this again but using compressor.

Not Quicktime Conversion, right?
Any chance you can post 2-3 seconds of the ‘None’ Quicktime probelm area to yousendit or a website or something?

I did do one quick time conversion.. I remember doing another one but I will do it again should I use compressor? Or whats the best way?

The best way would be to have the guys give you a 2vuy movie so you don’t have to recompress, but, you should try what I outlined before, this time with spell correction:
Open FCP, import the pc “none” render and then make an 8 bit Uncompressed timeline. Drag the fusion file in the timeline and hit no when FCP asks to change the settings. hit render and let it cook for a few seconds then hit cancel. Navigate to the front of the timeline and check out a part of it that has the blue render bar above it on a proper monitor (not your computer monitor). Is it still banding?

the comp guys shoudl give me 2vuy movie? what is that? oppose to the none?
