February 20, 2009 at 3:31 amHi Christina. That conversation was for you on your Mac. This is for your PC guys.
If you read the post, it says that you PC guys should give you an uncompressed QT file. DId you click on the link, scroll down to the bottom and read the AJA windows Quicktime part? I have copied and pasted it in case you don’t see it and notice the 2vuy option, not the 2Vuy option.
https://www.aja.com/html/support_kona3_swd.html
AJA Windows QuickTime™ Codec v1.1.1
This codec allows media captured via KONA 3, KONA LS, or any of the Io’s to be used on Windows machines, for graphics work, etc. The rendered files created on the PC can then be used back on your OSX system and output through your AJA Desktop unit (KONA LS, Io, etc.). The KONA PC Codec covers the following compression formats:‘2vuy’ (aka “Uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2”)
‘2Vuy’ (aka “AJA Kona 2Vuy Codec”)
‘v210’ (aka “Uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2”)
‘R10k’ (aka “AJA Kona 10-bit RGB Codec”)
‘R10g’ (aka “AJA Kona 10-bit Log RGB Codec”)Jeremy

February 20, 2009 at 3:35 amYeah I read it. I get that But when I get that from them… am i so pose to use that as my time line editing base? the aja 2 vuy? Because before i know we were saying how thats not a FCP real time codec which makes sense im just trying to fill the gap between gettign the 2vuy from them… to edit… to final delivery..

February 20, 2009 at 3:38 amYou would use the Apple 8bit Uncompressed codec in your timeline as when you get a 2vuy codec from the PC it is essentially the same thing. Getting it now?

February 20, 2009 at 3:49 amyes so much more clear now.. Just one more thing.. Do you think that this was the issue ? that since i had to re compress the files i got from comp and then bring that into FCP and then re compress again. caused all that banding?

February 20, 2009 at 3:52 amCould be. As I mentioned earlier, if you could post a few seconds of your video, I could take a look for you. Even though your material is Uncompressed, it would be better if you didn’t have to recompress it so much.

February 20, 2009 at 4:45 amwell my boss wants our final output to be 10bit
so to come from a PC comp guy I would have them deliver me the v210 30fps 720p
my FCP timeline would Uncompressed 10-bit 59.94
Now I would have no problem exporting that at 30fps right? I was goign with the 59.94 bc I want playback on my tv.
Also how do you think my system will handle it? I know i wont be getting anywhere close to a true real time but do you think that it will drop frames on playback?
Is there a better way to do this?
