highest bit depth with FCP

okay.. why is that? Also I noticed that when comparing the v210 to the comp i got the other day that was “none” I get a huge gamma shift. The NONE is alot brighter then the aja v210 is something with the aja codec?

We are going in circles here, but because your monitor doesn’t accept that frequency (60Hz). It maintains a 59l94 Hz frequency to match legacy NTSC standards.

You probably don’t want the brightness. None is an RGb codec while v210 is YUV and video is traditionally YUV

okay.. well is there a way to play rgb on aja? I know this is opening another chapter in this conversation but basically what my comp guys see on their screens is an image seq(RGb) when they are delivering to me in the aja its getting that shift bc its going to YUV.. Now I guess my question is is there a way to be able to edit in FCP with the RGB? and output to the TV using aja? with out getting the drop frames?

Yes
However RGB codecs in Final Cut only work in a 4:4:4 Dual Link video space that I am going to guess that you are not equipped to handle or monitor.
Video is YUV,
all of your Video Displays are YUV.

WHen exactly are you seeing the shift? Is it after they make the v210 movie? Or are you only seeing it on the Mac?

Well Im seeing the shift when they’re giving me the v210. Ill compare movies in FCP and you can see the difference.

I was reading somewhere online that sometimes when clients ask for UNCOMPRESSED they really mean NONE.. is that true? And wouldnt it be more true then that if they didnt know what platform you were working on? For example Im the only MAC in my whole studio bc we’re animation and since PC’s uncompressed is “none” wouldnt that be a possibility?

Look you have spent a incredible amount of time telling everyone here what you cannot do, we keep telling you
that the are ways and the means to handle any kind of content that can be turned into video and you keep ignoring the advice.Your content is RGB animation files- EVERYTHING you are using to handle that footage looks at it in the YUV or a different color space than you are working in. Maybe its about time you told that to your boss.

Are you paying attention?
this was covered a couple of times by jeremy.The “None” codec is a legacy and is so ungodly large that no one uses it.
I have run into PC video amateurs think that NONE is “uncompressed” it is not.1080 24p files with NONE compression require drives to playback that video at over 750MB per second
1080 24p files with Animation Codec has alpha channels too and require drives that need to playback at about 175MB per secondThe 2vuy codec can play back that same content at about 165MBps.

Then one would expect you would understand how files translate between the platforms since you are the only Mac user.
I know of very few PC animators or FCP editors that would have machines that would be capable of playing back that “NONE” content, with it requiring drives to support a data stream at 750 Megabytes a second, you would be better off play tiff or DPX sequences in FCP
. Which is the way you should have started then all of your files would still be in an RGB and frame for frame format.gary adcock
