Here is what we did to fix this:

We have two hard drives on our machine– one is for Media 100 that is a mirror of the hard drive for FCP —
(this because the FCP hard drive uses the Kona software, where Media 100 hard drive uses internal Media 100 software for the same Kona card)

Our QT 7.4 update was only on the FCP hard drive side —

So, I erased the FCP drive & reinstalled the OS —
transferred applications & settings from the Media 100 hard drive– did OS upgrades – installed the Kona software
installed QT 7.3 and I’m up and running again —
yes, it took 6 hrs but I couldn’t afford to be down
    another day.

I have done my original AE render’s and we have had no problems to report.

    best of luck

Same problem here, File Export Quicktime from After Effect seems to work.

Just curious has anyone tried deleting the quicktime receipts along with quicktime 7.4. Then reinstalling quicktime 7.3.1? You will find all the receipts for software versions in Library/Receipts. Worth a shot before nuking your drive.

Thank you guys, you really rock!
I downloaded Quicktime 7.3.1 and installed it with Pacifist, always choosing “Replace” instead of “Actualize”… and it worked perfectly.

    Thanks again!
And I will never do a Quicktime update again, Apple.

Yep, me too. Big thanks to whoever came up with that.

And thank Darth Cruise for watching over us in our times of crisis… 😉

I did a test render last night and it fixed the problem.

However today I did another test render and came up with the permissions error again. Very Odd!

I am reinstalling with Pacifist again. Perhaps I forgot to click on of those replace buttons or something. I am also deleting the quicktime7.4 receipt in Library/receipts.
I am also wondering if everyone is using the Adobe AE 8.0.1 update?

    I just realized I have only 8.0.

    Thanks.
