January 17, 2008 at 4:21 pmSame here, but after testing I have found that rendering as a file sequence (TARGA etc) still works. Phew. But what a cock-up by Apple.

January 17, 2008 at 4:22 pmI’m hoping that Adobe was either already aware that there may be problems with QT 7.4, or has time to fix this issue for their promised update of CS3

January 17, 2008 at 6:33 pmI got it too. G5 OS X 10.4.11. Maybe if enough people complain they’ll do something about it.

January 17, 2008 at 7:28 pmI hope so, an hour after I posted and said that ‘luckily’ I didn’t have any projects to render… a job came in.

January 17, 2008 at 7:50 pmWe have one edit station that did the QT 7.4 upgrade and we are experiencing the same reported problems – we have tried to un-install 7.4 and re-install QT 7.3 but we keep getting a red flag on the re-install saying that the hard drive has a newer version installed, even when we have trashed everything QT. We think that the install is seeing QT components tied to the Pro App’s bundle.
We are now going to try re-installing FCP and see how that goes.Anyone know a better way?

January 17, 2008 at 8:56 pmI’ve had the same issue all day. Funny thing is that my comp is only 10 seconds; the crash and pop-up occurs around 8 seconds of render. The same project worked fine yesterday…pre upgrade. Also, has anyone noticed how the Sorenson and Sorenson 3 codecs are unavailable for export in FCP? I say good riddance, but some of my clients still have older systems to view and sorenson is the only thing that works!

January 17, 2008 at 9:22 pmI had the same problem in AE. Try this…Go to System Preferences and Quicktime and Advanced and check the box that says “Show legacy encoders.”
