I wouldn’t want to deal with shipping the stuff myself. So I would just list it dirt cheep or free on craigslist, with the stipulation that they must pick it up.

Well it came off as if you were just complaining, maybe you should have stated your purpose.
As for me the dock serves the purpose it was created for.

I don’t really see what more functionality the dock needs. Perhaps you should be a bit more clear on what exactly you think it needs. Instead of being clear on things you just seemed to complain that it needs to do more.

No no no.
Double click on the dmg file and it will mount on your desktop as a disk. That disk should have a uninstall option.

No if I remember correctly when you mount the safari 3 install dmg there is an option to uninstall the v3 ind put back the old version.

You shouldn’t have been able to install the new version of Safari at all, it requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 or newer.
Because updating safari not only updates the safari application but also other component on the OS you may have to archive and install the OS.
Before doing that, mount the Safari installer dmg and there should be a option to uninstall the new version.

Try booting from your OS disk and run a repair on the disk and repair the disk permissions.
If that does not work try an archive and install.
If that does not work make an appointment at your closest Apple Store, because it may be a hardware problem instead of software.

If your looking at doing a photo slide show, look into a program called Fotomagico. It is MUCH faster for creating photo slide shows then FCP.
If you want to do it in FCP and want to work in a higher quality time line then you will have to live with the longer render times. If you have FCP 6 then you could try using a ProRes sequence.

I would hardly call that validation. Even if you are going to take it back to full res later, it is still painful editing at such a low quality.
I would say the it would be best to convert the video into a not so compressed codec and use a cheep 2 disk raid.
Lets also keep in mind how ling it will take to convert or even recapture the video from 16 cameras. If the project has a tight deadline then he will have to invest in a nice raid to get it done on time.
