Editing stills to best quality
Hi there.
I’m making a short film and we’re shooting high definition still images and was looking for some help in what is the best sequence set up on FCP, best export procedure and best overall production pipe to get the sharpest images.
To work backwards, what I’ll need at the end is a quicktime file I can burn onto a SD disc. I’m in the UK, so this will be a DVD PAL disc, in widescreen.
I’ve tested a DV-PAL timeline and the quality is understandably poor.
My other test was to experiment with a HD (1440×1080) timeline, using an Animation compressor. The quality was better, but it took a long time to render the pictures and would mean a really slow edit.
The camera itself shoots 3456×2304 pixel size at it’s highest setting.
Everything is up for grabs, we could change the camera setting as well, if someone has experience of that.
Or do we need to prepare the photos before bringing them into FCP?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
