I have a 2 month old 17″ MBP with Hi-Res display (1920×1200) and I get LOTS of choking, and like I said before I have the fastest internet connection available in my part of the city (1.3) the largest city in the state.
While the video does look good for web video, I still noticed plenty of pixilation at times.
In NO way would I consider the end all web solution you clam it is.

Honestly I don’t know anything about there products this was the fist I’ve heard of them, but it seems they have a long list of products and that thy only take orders over the phone.

You have to do a little bit of clicking but info on there products is there.
And why they don’t list prices or have the ability to order over web is odd.

QuickTime is a CORE component of the OS you will need to archive and install your OS.
Why do you want to go to an older version of QuickTime anyway?

Export a quicktime using current settings, and THEN pull that file into compressor. Don’t export using compressor from FCP.

I don’t know. With out a portfolio or experience it is going to be extremely difficult getting freelance work. Also you will not be able to charge much as a freelancer because of your lack of experience and proof of skill found in a demo reel.
I would look for work a part time job at a production house, add agency, news station etc. Even a place that does weddings may not be a bad choice for now. You could get editing experience and use what you know about After effects to create some cool DVD menus, and other things.

For backup it looks great. I personally wish they had a esata option or at least a FW400/800
