Bill for three layers of the type of media you say you are putting on your timeline you are going to need a faster media drive. If you had a proper 4-5 disk raid then I’m sure things would play back fine.
Apples claims are good, they are just giving FCP the hardware needed to pull it off.

Are your video files on the system drive or a seperate drive? If the drive us seperate how is it conected? And how full is the drive?

The best thing to do when going to a newer version of FCP is to not run it as an upgrade. I recommend cloning your system drive to another as a backup, and then completely erase your system drive, install a clean OS and then do a clean install of FCP.
If you don’t want to do that then Get FCP Remover and use that to uninstall the old version of FCP.

Im sorry you feel offended, I meant no offense at all. Its just that it your question was stating that you wanted to make a blue-ray DVD and that you were planing to use DVD SP. My response was simply that DVD SP does not do blue-ray, and it was only then that you state that you are going to use encore.
Im sorry but please do not blame anybody for the confusion, when it was your story that changed. All I was trying to do was let you know that DVD SP does not do blue-ray. Many others have actually asked about how to do that here on the cow, and there is nothing wrong with pointing out that it cannot do that, when a question states that the person is planing on using DVD SP to make a blue-ray DVD.

DVD Studio Pro does NOT do blue-ray.
Do a search about blue ray authoring here on the cow and you will find plenty of info about it. In fact in looking over todays posts there is a nice thread a little way down about it.

Keeping the media on the system drive would be the cause.
Your system system drive has enough to do running the OS and applications, pile on top of that heavy video files and it is just not going to be able to keep up.
Move your media to a separate designated media drive (and not a USB one) and that will make a world of difference.
