Is there any advantage to that over exporting an XML directly from FCP?

Excellent news all around. I’ll do a test with the computer we’ll be using and make sure it runs okay.

As for drive space, I agree more would be better. Unfortunately, such is the reality of low-budget indies. The producers don’t want to buy anything more until we actually run out of space on the current drives. C’est la vie!

Thanks for the advice, Ronny! 3 questions:

    1) Is the proxy format the same resolution as the original, or can it be changed? I don’t think I have the space for 4K files, even at Proxy.

    2) How does this process work with XML files? Will an XML reference the original R3Ds?

    3) Can you specify the debayer settings when exporting the final “original” quality?

    Best,
    Zak

Thanks Paul! The most recent version can be found here:

It’s not so much device-based as codec-based, so ProRes isn’t defined by it’s specific use in the Alexa. I am thinking about making an iOS version however, which might have the ability to cycle through based on codec OR device… we’ll see if my time allows it!

The Shader Model is visible in the “GPU Information” dialog in Previews.

Are you on a Windows machine by any chance? The GTX isn’t officially supported on the Mac, sorry for not clarifying.

Okay, found this document which explains a lot:
    https://pro-av.panasonic.net/en/sales_o/broch_pdf/P2brochure.pdf

Details still sketchy on the 4K format though (i.e. frame rates), and AVC Proxy (i.e. chroma sampling). Anyone?

Also do the high bitrates (200, 400) and bit depths (12) apply to the 720 frame sizes, or just 1080? Or are they for the 2k/4k rasters?

Hm… was hoping for something a bit smaller, but I suppose I can rearrange the space to accommodate a 42″ or 50″.

I’m using a Blackmagic Intensity. Would indeed go for a FSI or Dreamcolor if I could afford it, but alas, not in the cards at the moment.
