    Hey guys,

I d/loaded avimux-gui. I extract the binary from the ac3 portion of the avi file. I checked the extracted ac3 as having 6 channels. So far so good. I opened it in DVDA 5.0 and it recognises the file. So far so better.I’m currently burning it and I’ll check if the surrounds work on my home theatre. i’m confident it will. then I get to say so far so best.I’ll keep you guys updated on the results.
    Thks a lot!!!

    John,

I tried to do exactly what you said. But the ac3 is actually in the said movie.avi file. So, how do i extract the ac3 in the first place? Cos under the tab ac3 analysis, it only recognizes ac3 files.
My audio is in an avi file. How??? pls enlighten….

    Steve,

    Yes I do. I’ve installed soundforge 9.0.
I’m not familiar with soundforge but I tried opening the file with it and was not successful. It doesn’t recognize the said file. It indicated no audio. But video is ok. Any other solutions? pls…

    John,

    Thks for the response.

Getting into vegas is THE problem too. Apparently the file is not Sony friendly. I can easily convert it to mp3 stereo using Magic and bring it to vegas or dvda. But that will defeat the whole purpose as I would lose the 5.1 surround. if I understand this correctly 6 channels mean 6 audio files. So how do i break it into 6 different wav files? Any software that can do this? hopefully free.

    allen,

thks for sharing your experience in this field. like i said before, i will heed the advice of gurus like you and steve. will work with -r quality discs from now on. Will posts results if this thread is still available. Thks again for your time. very much appreciated.

Btw,just curious, is rendering in dvda pro 4.5 much longer than dvda 4.0. I have both installed in same system, is there any conflict? or should i uninstall either 1. I used to have vegas 5 n 7 installed together and work fine. also, which mpeg2 type does dvda work with the best such that rendering is minimised or totally unnecessary. i’m asking this cos rendering in dvda is time consuming. i once authored and burn a movie where rendering was not required at all.only once that happen to me. i think it can happen again but only if i can convert it to the dvda friendly mpeg2 specs.
