  • Capturing DVCPRO50 is not a DeckLink issue. I know of some people using the “decklink deck control” application to capture & dump clips, and have PPro in DV-mode projects. You cannot capture SDI from within PPro when you are in a DV project. BMD has promised the decklink will work with a DV project but right now this is something that is not supported.

  • The decklink uses its own codec. You have to render any other clips that are in another codec. Clips in their codec don’t have to be rendered.

    Only 1 card is supported.

Directshow input and output supported. See the SDK that can be downloaded on their website for more information.

    No.
Like I said: capturing won’t work reliably on 32bits.
Simple playback seemed to work on older drivers. I haven’t tested this on 4.8 yet.

What does work is the livekey application.

No. PCI bandwidth is the bottleneck, not the disk IO. Allready tried using an adaptec 39320 in a 32-bit PCI slot. DeckLinks should be in 64-bit slots for NLE purposes. For simpler things (like keying graphics over live), 32-bit is okay.

For simple playing back purposes, this works OK. For recording or Premiere support, it does not work at all.

Make sure you have the right format TGA. Non-keyed TGA on a PAL system must be 720×576 32-bit. A quick solution is to have a color effect applied that does nothing instead of starting up PhotoShop and resize the image.

The problem is that the BMD drivers try to handle TGA files natively without rendering. BMD didn’t implement a resize algorithm for this and that’s the problem…

You need at least 64-bit 66Mhz PCI busses. Your motherboard has only 32-bit PCI busses. Don’t be fooled by the size of the DeckLink card.

It’s not the bits that count, but the speed of the PCI-bus (66 mhz instead of the 33mhz of a regular 32-bit PCI). BMD should have made the boards 1 inch bigger, so an empty part would fit in the 64-bit part of the bus, it would make support much easier.

For a timeline to play, you need several channels of video. That’s why you can get away with it using Deck Control but not with PPro.

You have to contact BMD for that. It’s free.
    support@blackmagic-design.com will do I think.
