Hey, that’s what came to my mind when I read the question.
But you need to take that a little further, though.

Take the animated fractal noise layer and precomp it, then use it as layer map
in caustics and select it as the water. This should give you some beautiful
looking water. If you need to, go back and adjust the fractal to change your
    water to suit your needs.

Also in caustics, get a photo of ocean floor and use that as the bottom and so on.

    Good luck.

Final Effects>Sphere; this has been replaced by cycore effects, but if you can get it,
it will do the same thing.

    Hi Steve,
    Thanks for the reply.

To do a quick render to QT, should I then set the comp to full resolution
and make the layers draft? I still need to get the size but a quicker render
would be nice rather than best and full settings.

I normally render everything out to best & full, that’s why I’ve never came
    across this issue.

    Thank you for your help.

Hit control+alt+R to reverse the layer itself (layer needs to be selected).
Then set your work area to what you need. Try that for a size.

    Good luck

Use the text>numbers and choose the format timecode, then keyframe 00:00 to 20:00.
Select the keyframes and time reverse keyframes (right click on one of the keyframes)
then go ahead and set the work area from 20:00 to 02:00.

    That should do it.

Off the top of my head, would optics compensation work on that?
