    Hi Greg,

    I made an easy example.

I want a result like on the right, the only way to get the same warp only above is by cutting of the lower part, but that doesn’t work on more difficult shapes. So how do I keep the wave warp on one side only. Pinning changes the warp.

    Hi Greg,

Just had a look at your tutorial again. Does it help the image quality if you switch the anti aliasing to high (instead of medium)?

I like the way you did it, but I am actually looking for a way to hide the lower edge without using pinning. Pinning also deforms the wave a bit and I don’t want this.

Hi Greg, I’ll get back to you with my results!

Cool! You just made that? That will do the trick! Thanks Greg

Exactly. So once I put the first keyframe again, the movement becomes (sort of) circular. Adding 4 keyframes (last two “Time Reverse”) makes it happen, but it gives one frame hold. I don’t want a hold 😉

Is there a way to get the wave effect only on one side. Let’s say the upperside of a square. Instead of Top and Bottom. The pinning option doesn’t seem to be for this purpose.

  • Hi guys, just one more question. The null follows perfectly, but once I move the PRECOMP in time (let’s say forward in time) the null no longer follows (it follows the Composition like it isn’t moved). Any suggestions how to solve this?

this setup (with a “hold”) works. But I don’t want 1 frame hold.

    Hi Kalleheikki!

I tried both ways. I think when I would use 4 keyframes and 1 frame hold it would work like you described. The way I want it is with 3 keyframes only. Like in the screenshot, but I always get a sort of “circle” it never goes back the way it came.

Am I doing it the wrong way?

Would it be possible to add an “invisible alpha layer” between the background and the two masked layers so it renders the “Add Alpha” and then it applies the background? The only other way I see is precomposing the masked layers, but it makes it more difficult to animate.
