Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. I like the idea of chopping up large DMG files and reassembling them later. I suppose for the future I’ll look into different formats to make my life even easier.

Perhaps I’ll even split my hard drive.

    Thanks again,

    Willy

  • Hi all,

I will be doing the same thing as mentioned but using the canon XH-A1, I just want to be clear that it will simultaneously be recording to tape AND through QT.

    Thanks,

    Willy

Yes I realize that but there are effects of FCP that I really like and I know there must be a way to trick it to produce photos with the correct aspect ratio.

  • So, it happened again and now I’m pretty frustrated. I figured it out last time so I can probably do it again but I need to know what caused it so it doesn’t keep happening.

It was mentioned above that is might have to do with “not properly shutting down the entire system before doing anything with my external firewire box (canopus box).”

If this is the case perhaps there is protocol I am not doing that bumps the externals the wrong way.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Right, that is what I thought and I ran a corrupt file scan. I’ve even trashed the prefs and done a whole bunch of other RT adjustments.

Do I need to increase the speed of my drives? It hasn’t been a problem before and it works fine on other projects.

    Any other ideas?

Ok. I know now that it is just one project that won’t export, others are fine, my external is fine. Good.

I noticed that there are some dropped frames in my project, could that be the file I/O error?

If so, I’ve tried some techniques to beat the dropped frames but to no avail, any ideas?

    Thanks you guys

I double-checked the info and the drive I’m using is Mac OSX journaled.

Like I said, it was exporting fine and all of a sudden it had the file.

  • Thank you.

I found a sneaky way that worked perfectly.

Open FCP with the original external running and have a new external connected. Copy the project file in the new external and open it from there. It opens no problem, no error. Then save the project on the original external with a NEW NAME. Close FCP and open the new project name and voila! Patched.

    Worked for me!

  • I seem to be having a hard time finding this:

MAC HD -> Library -> Preferences -> System Configuration -> Power Management P-list file

    Any suggestions?
