    Rob,
This can happen if you patch source tracks to timeline tracks and then delete the relevant timeline tracks (if autopatching is not activated).
Try adding tracks to your timeline or turning on autopatching ?

Avid DS is a heavy-duty finishing tool, for concentrating on full-res high quality compositing, effects and formatting. It was originally developed by Softimage, and whilst there have been efforts to make it more Avid-like it remains vastly different because it is so much more sophisticated.
It is highly likely that you could jump on and be simple cutting in the timeline quite quickly, but you wouldn’t be in the least bit comfortable. It also sounds a bit odd that someone wants you to cut on one, simply because it’s an expensive box that needs high rates to pay off. (I have been lucky enough to be able to cut short items full res on DS however and it is just excellent.)
    Good luck !

Subclip both audio & video per take, mark inpoint at clapper on both.
Then select both clips in the bin and use ‘Merge clips’ command from the Modify menu.
You can speed this up a lot if you map this command to your keyboard.

It seems to be: you have to go into audio/video settings, capture presets tab, duplicate one of the presets and then edit it.I use an IO LD and can edit a copy of the AJA 8-bit SDI preset to transcode to Prores on capture.Don’t have time to test right now,but I regularly transcode SDI into other compressed formats on capture.
