Douglas, I’m happy to help. Use that tidbit of a tip any time you want to add ANY filter or whatnot to only a portion of your clip 🙂

Why not make it simple for yourself & do an add edit at 01:50:00 of your 2 min. clip & another add edit at 01:58:00 & apply the effect on that portion of your clip? There’s your 8 seconds of spark. 🙂

Not that I really have anything to contribute to your post… but have you heard of tinyurl.com? That same url translates to https://tinyurl.com/26fz4a

Set to auto works with either the on board mic or XLR’s provided you have XLR activated in the menu. The fault with Canon’s audio auto level mode is that it affects both channels as one. There’s no way to set it for independent channels. Meaning for instance, you have your main audio source on one channel… & secondary audio on the other… if sound source for the secondary audio channel rises considerably for whatever reason, it’s going to affect & lower your main channel. Stupid design, but it is what it is.

behind the terminal cover. Actually it doesn’t say in or out… I was doing this from memory (which is dangerous :)) It switches from V2 (bnc) or the A/V1 terminal. Page 99… at least in the pdf manual.

You must be doing something wrong. Make sure the a/v I/O switch for composite connections is set for output.

It’s normal behavior & I believe it’s because it’s not a true servo lens. Many if not all cameras in this category do this. I don’t like it, but it is what it is.

James, you say yours doesn’t do this… but I think you’re not understanding. Put your A1 in TV (locked) or manual mode. Start out wide, then zoom in. Your iris WILL close down a bit… such as around f2.6 or whatever it is. Zoom back out to wide & it opens up to the original value.

not possible with the A1, however I’d suggest some kind of still image rig to accomplish this.

  • I don’t know that camera, but there may be a standby switch or something similar that’s switched on.
