  • Stop motion with an XH-A1? Is it possible?

Posted by Stephen Kling on January 27, 2008 at 8:49 pm

I’m working on a project that requires a fixed camera and stop-motion (you know, the Koyaanasquaatsi-type crowds-pouring- into-Grand-Central-Station in bizarro fast motion) over 2 days, night and day. While I know there’s a software solution that will trip the shutter at a specified interval, that would involve setting up a computer near the camera and camping out. Is there any way to get the camera itself to take one frame every minute?

not possible with the A1, however I’d suggest some kind of still image rig to accomplish this.

If you choose to go the stills route, and you shoot Canon, it’s easy: buy a Canon TC80N3 programmable shutter release. It’s about $140 (which isn’t exactly peanuts, but it’s a pretty useful little tool). Good luck.

What software do you use for stop motion with the XH-A1?

I tried using framebyframe but it doesn’t recognize my XH-A1.

Can anybody suggest a good stopmotion software on a mac?

    Cheers
