I would assume you can just select which codec to encode to under the
capture preset (like before HDV was supported you could for most any
    other capture input).

I’m sure there will be a easy setup for it though.

All you need to worry about is if it supports HDV 1080p24f, 30f, and 60i….which it does.
I’ve used things trouble free for years that were not “officially supported” by FCP.

Depends. If you just edit HDV, then no. If you are in a studio with HDSDI capture
capabilities, live switching or use a Wafian recorder, yes.

It will give you better quality, but at the hefty price of more expensive equipment and
    MUCH larger file sizes.

No. It is not. Firewire transfers compressed HDV or DV signal.
HDSDI transfers uncompressed 10bit 4:2:2 HD.

Issue was resolved by downgrading to previous driver.
I hope this is fixed in the next revision.

The quads are great for Maya as well.
Nearly twice as fast as dual 2.5.

I ordered a Macbeth chart. Maybe it will get here in time for the tests.
If not I’ll still make sure there is a good variety of subject matter.

I have done captures from a FX1 using the Kona LH analog component inputs.
Very nice compared to HDV. Check out this thread….thread

I’m not sure if Squeeze 4.1 recognizes 4 processors, but programs I have
used such as Maya, After Effects, and Compressor all render about twice
as fast as our dual 2.5.

no joke. it screems. and get as much ram as possible.
