  • New FINAL CUT STUDIO 2 does not support XH A1

    Hi folks,
I just had noticed, that newly announced Final Cut Studio 2, does not have compatibility with Canon XH A1, yet. (Go to see https://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/ and than go to Hardware Compatibility Guide, then choose Canon cameras)
There is compatibility with G1,but not A1. I had even called apple’s technical support, and they told me that it does not have oficial support at this time, but apparently they are still upgrading and we should keep an eye on that guide.
They agreed that it would not make any sense not to include A1, since it was suported by FCP 5.1 But nobody was able to tell me when A1 will be aded, even if it will be added at all.

It might be good idea to send a request for adding A1 to their Compatibility list as soon as possible. E-mail address to Final Cut Pro engineers is: fi*******************@***le.com

    Cheers

For FCP FW capture purposes the A1 and G1 are identical

    Hi Peter,
yes, that is exactly the point, which does not make sense. They are identical cameras for FW, so why A1 is not approved as compatible?

All you need to worry about is if it supports HDV 1080p24f, 30f, and 60i….which it does.
I’ve used things trouble free for years that were not “officially supported” by FCP.

    Hi Will,
yaah I know. You are definitely right. I just wanna be absolutely sure, that my A1 will work with it, before I spend 5,000 bucks on new system.
    Thanks for your input,
    Cheers

    Easy Setup “HDV 1080p 24”.
Or use “HDV 1080i60” if using 60i or 30p.

    Hmmm….

    thanks for the information.

AANNDD…. against all odds it worked! I swear I tried that repeatedly yesterday, but today it likes me

    thanks

    Jeff

ps- on some threads people say the camera could have a bad capture card, a quick way to make sure b4 sending it in for service is to try capture in iMovie, just to make sure it works.
