    Hi Mark…

Hate to say but it’s a GL2 head issue. I had a GL 1 and had same issues. You find the problem occurs when using tapes that contain loons of oxide on the tape surface. I can recommend sending your unit for a service and a deep head clean. Try using the panasonic PQ tapes. They give off the least amount oxide.

But sadly yess it’s a GL 2 issue

I you will find that the floro lights will probably read at about 4300 Kelvin. It tends to look harsher in the view finder than what it is…. But I would most definitely use additional lights if you have. Possibly a red head and just bounce it to get a good spread

  • Hi

I think kBrian kinda summed it up. Keep in mind we have 4 flavors of HDV and each of the major manufacturers rely on their own codecs, so the majority are not compatible.

    Hi Matt

I can recommend relooking at your tape brand you are using. Try shooting HDV on a really good quality tape like a Maxell master series and you are sure to get rid of the problem. Due to the compression of HDV it can be a problem. I had a similar issue and swapped tape brands….. Problem sorted

    Hi Joe

I shoot for television all the time and it’s a technique I use in ENG interviews. How far away is your subject from the cam ?

Keep in mind to get the crushed or blurred background u need to be zoned into your objectl… Even just a bit…

    Hi Suzanne

Well i dont know much about the Vegas package, but I had this on FCP.
What I did to sort the problem on Apple was to capture as a non device control unit.. IE the software writes its own time code as it goes along. Can you do that on Vegas ? SOunds like your cams time code is going haywire at times. I had a it a few times when I was on Ver 5.1 but since Ver 6 its kinda gone

    ??? Hope this helps

    Regards

    William
