I’m sure you’ve done this, but you have FX packages selected. If you don’t have any FX packages created, it will show blank. Try selecting the folder All under Audio.

What you need is software that does “smart-rendering”. In other words, it only re-renders those areas near your cut-points and simply copies the rest. Vegas is not the software you want to use since it will most likely “re-render” everything. And certainly, you would not want to re-render “Uncompressed”. You should try something like VideoReDo TV Suite or TMPGEnc’s MPEG Smart Renderer. Both of these do smart-rendering and the time required is relatively quick since it’s mostly a matter of copying. There should be no problem with a 1 TB HD. They both provide a free trial.

Most likely, here’s the problem.
Simply drag the border button before the pan/crop button.

Another option is to transcode in Handbrake, choosing constant framerate, and then the MP4 container. Resulting files play very well in Vegas thus avoiding MOV.

I can also confirm it doesn’t work going from V13 543 to V14 161. That’s a real shame.

I use an Avisynth filter QTGMC, considered by many to be the best, and much better than Yadif (although Yadif is an option) and certainly better than those inside of Vegas. It does require installation of Avisynth and Virtualdub and a script to control the round-trip processing from Vegas and back. In the past, I’ve used a single-purpose script to do this but have recently created a GUI version that can easily accomplish this with just a few clicks. It adds the de-interlaced file as a Take to the original event. It should be available in the not too distant future since it’s undergoing pretty much final testing. It also supports Deshaker for those interested in a freeware alternative to Mercalli.
