If you want flexibility and control over rendering, have a look at the Veggie toolkit from Peachrock. It’s not free, but it is an extremely powerful and flexible tool.

    I can thoroughly recommend it!

    Go to https://www.peachrock.com/software/veggie-toolkit.html

    G’day Edward,

yes, you have described exactly what I’m after. I located the PeachRock product but don’t really want to purchase the whole set just for that feature (with all due respect to the author). I didn’t check to see if this particular script is available by itself though (I’ll go back and look).

I probably know just enough about scripting to be dangerous but am willing to have a look at the ver4 ‘Render Queue” script and see if I can make sense out of it.

I have a hotmail address at waynestarick AT hotmail DOT com.

Thanks to you (and to Gary)

    Hi Grazie,

I presume that when you say Vegas Explorer you mean Windows Explorer. :o)

I use mine all of the time and would find editing a far less efficient process – it puts easy scrubbing and 13 or so (depending on the model you buy) programmable buttons literaly at your fingertips.

You will find lots of people on this forum that swear by them.

I have been using SonicFire Pro for a couple of years now and can thoroughly recommend it (my musicality extends to the giddy heights of knowing how to press Play in the CD player).

There is a review of it here:

June 21, 2005 at 7:56 pm in reply to: OT – New question on audio recorder

    Hi Lee,

My iRiver can record audio as MP3, OGG, WMA, ASF or WAV files. The bit rate can be set for MP3’s (from 40Kbps to 320 Kbps). It does have automatic gain control but this can be over-ridden. If you wished you could monitor the levels in real time via the head-phones but for me this is impossible as the iRiver is usually in the groom’s pocket (I do a lot of weddings) and I am always monitoring the levels my camera is picking up anyway.

I have always recorded in MP3 as a contiguous file but I don’t think there is any way to index this file.

Once I get back to my edit PC I simply plug my H120 into a USB (USB2) port where it is then recognised as another hard drive, so all transfers are drag-and-drop via Windows Explorer – a huge plus!

I can then drop this file straight onto the Vegas time line and edit from there. Of course you could always open the file in a dedicated sound editor, tweak it there to your heart’s content and then bring it into Vegas.

Have a look here for more information on the H100 series. https://www.iriveramerica.com/support/hd/h100.aspx

I used to use a Sony mini-disc recorder, but now use an iRiver recorder – the H120 which I think has been replaced by newer models now.
