At the moment I’m putting together a DVD that consists of several slideshows and a number of video sequences. My workflow at the moment is build project1 – save veg1, build project2 – save veg2…….build project’n’-save veg’n’ then render each veg separately.

My reading of the manual suggests that it is possible to batch render ie ‘say’ to Vegas render project1, project2, project3…….project’n’, set up some parameters (eg render to AVI and save the output in directory blah), then set the PC running and retire for the evening, or go out or do something else.

Can anyone give me a ‘blow-by-blow’ description of how to do this, or point me to where someone has already done that?

The batch rendering in Vegas is more for rendering multiple formats of rthe same material and goes like this:

Go to Tools > Scripting> Batch Render, and a dialog box will pop up. The main trick here is NOT to check on one of the unexpaneded options (e.g. Mpeg 2). First expand the categories and check what you need.

You can choose to render the project, selection or regions. If you set up your different sections as regions, you can probably get where you are going.

In Excalibur, the Asset Collector has more options such as render BOTH the whole project and regions in the same or different formats as well as grabbing still images for you.

In your case, it sounds like you’re wanting to render multiple projects – sort of a set it to this format and then render all projects to that format. Probably the best script for that is the Veggie Toolkit at https://www.peachrock.com/software/veggie-toolkit.html

I also have a “Render Queue” script that someone wrote. It’s designed for Vegas 4 but should require only a simple modification to work in Vegas 5 or 6. I could e-mail that to you.

    G’day Edward,

yes, you have described exactly what I’m after. I located the PeachRock product but don’t really want to purchase the whole set just for that feature (with all due respect to the author). I didn’t check to see if this particular script is available by itself though (I’ll go back and look).

I probably know just enough about scripting to be dangerous but am willing to have a look at the ver4 ‘Render Queue” script and see if I can make sense out of it.

I have a hotmail address at waynestarick AT hotmail DOT com.

Thanks to you (and to Gary)
