I also have same issue. Probably one of my editors used a plug in which is not loaded onto my machine.
It is large project and very hard to find it to remove. What if I leave it in the timeline? Will it play without a transition there or will a “not on file” or something message pop up when reachign that point?
I sent project to compressor and there was no warning of “offline media”
    Thanks

    HI Lydia
Just wondering if you ever found the best method to convert? I do weddings and a 2 to 2.5 hours timelime is normal.
When working in SD I would use DL DVD and set compressor settings around 5.5 mbps and get great results.
I have ready Larry Jordan suggestions on line but the presets for pro res 422 produce a 38 gb converted file for 2 hours of media! I searched apple discussions and see that different apple pro res 422, HQ LT use various mpbs rate, but even Apple pro res proxy which converts 720 x 486 at 12 mbps results in a file too big.
The video frame rate window is shadowed out and does not allow me to make my own compression selection.
    What did you use?
    Thanks
    Wayne

  • I will try to apple pro res. I know about not putting media on internal HD, but as the drive is portioned they said it is a separate drive and to try that, as going over FW still bot as fast and perhaps that reason for crashing.
    Thanks for the tip

Do you mean when you use the L key to speed up, it is jumpy? I have same problem even with a completely new fcp 5 project. I discovered as solution this week — DO NOT touch the mouse at all, while previewing at the high speed scrolling. It works much better that way.

Also change the settings under the RT settings on the timeline. Uncheck the Scrub High Quality setting, and also try reducing the playback setting from dynamic to high.

    hope that helps
