  • FCP5 multicam – pasting a segment to higher Video Track

Is it possible to paste a segment of a multicam clip to a higher track? I have tried selecting track V3, shut off tracks v1 and v2 and even locked them, and the clip pastes back onmto track v1. I do this pasting to higher track to build my wedding highlight clips as I go along.

It doesnt seem to work the same as a regular timeline.

any ideas, besides pasting to a new timeline?
    thanks

Try collapsing your multiclip first. You can uncollapse it afterwards.

    How do you do that?

Select all the clips on the timeline (Command+A), control click–>Collapse MultiClips. (You can also do it from the toolbar, but I am not exactly sure –I don’t have FCP open right now–under which item you would look). After you are through, you can select all the clips and control click–>Uncollapse MultiClips.
