Updated to 8.2.3a after first uninstalling 8.2.3 per the instructions. The Media 100i app still shows version 8.2.3 under about Media 100i, though in the Finder shows 8.2.3a.
Just wanted to know if this is normal.

How or where do you find this text file to edit?
“You need to do a few things to get After Effects to work. Make sure your project is set to 16bit. Make sure that Trillions of colors is selected in the Output Module popup. On the Mac this is not on by default, and the text prefs must be modified. Open the text prefs and scroll down to QuickTime 64bit, and set v210 to “1”. Then you should be able to access “Trillions”. If this popup is not active, you will render 8bit RGB into your 10bit YUV file.”

I would stick to the G4. You won’t see any performance benefits in Media 100 with a G5 as all rendering in Media 100 is done with its PCI boards. Where you will see performance benefits with the G5 are in apps like Photoshop, After Effects renders and pretty much everything else.

I happened on one and know someone that can use a UL3D card. So if it will work in my current system, everyone is happy.

Could you not simply export an EDL, import the EDL into Media 100i and relink the media files?

It seems to me when you compare the chart of both models, they both do Tri Level Sync.
