There are so many variables in budgeting I wouldn’t even know where to start. The best thing you can possibly do is connect with an experience production company. One thing I’ve learned in pitching shows and ideas is that unless you’re established or have inside connections at networks, you don’t get any traction.
We’re in Buford if you ever want to set up a meeting to come by and chat. But budgeting a movie project is a daunting prospect if you’ve never done it before as is a television series.

If you are going to start in CS6 and end in FCP 7 I would HIGHLY recommend you convert all the footage before you start the edit. Makes for a VERY easy transition between the two edit systems. Just XML back and forth between them and all of the footage matches.

You can connect the RAID to one machine and Share it with the other via ethernet. IN our shop all our machines are connected to our RAID via a Small Tree communications network.

Are you exporting over a network? File sizes are limited to 2GB in most instances with Adobe software and networks. We’re running into that situation here at our shop, have to render to the Desktop and then move the files over.

[Chris Conlee] “Unless I’m mistaken, the only way to get a video preview file out of the BM card is to select a 1080 or smaller sequence preset.”
We are finding that BMD can ONLY output 720 / 60 and 1080i / 59.94 (29.97) to an external monitor. We’re running PPro CS6 with AJA Kona boards in all our suites except our Resolve room. In that room I was trying to edit with 720 / 30 material and the BMD card would not output video or audio when I was playing the source material. I had to drop it into a 720 / 59.94 timeline in order to see it. Not very convenient when I have 25 hours of raw material to go through.
The AJA Kona boards will automatically convert the video to 720 / 60 on the fly so I can view both the raw source materials and the Sequence.
So the BMD cards are limited in what they can output to the screen unfortunately.

While I appreciate an awesome Biscotti with my coffee, the correct spelling of my last name is Biscardi. Funny, usually people spell it Bacardi like the rum, which is awesome too!
These are excellent tests you’re running Premiere Pro as the media management is a true weakness of the application thus far. We are being very rigid in our media management to ensure that nothing gets lost and so far the biggest annoyance is the need to Conform / Generate Peak Files every time we open a project on a different machine. But as we are making sure we have all the media in place BEFORE it comes into the project, everything has been holding well.
But we do get weird Media Pending slates and I really want to see a Transcode / Consolidate function come to PPro on the next release.
Having both Avid and Premiere Pro in your toolbox is definitely a good mix for us. We’re loving the native workflow in CS6 while definitely appreciating the database structure in Avid. Now Avid has to truly break the links to the original media at the end of the transcode process so we can easily send to Resolve.

Yes, you’re rejected. Your proposal was “passed over.” Keep in mind you might see your exact show appear on the air in the future and you will have zero recourse of any claim because they very well could have been working on the exact same show already.
that’s why we never use that method of submitting to Discovery.
