That’s not a result of project size, that’s a result of how much media is associated with the project and whether or not that media is spread out over multiple drives.

FCP really likes dual processors and you’d be good to up the RAM to 2 or 3GB.

Just install the Final Cut Pro Studio Disk and it will ask you to load the discs in an order. I’ve done this on three different machines and it all works fine.

Boris Continuum 3 and Trapcode Shine are working normally here. Did you re-install them into Final Cut Pro 5 or did you just drag them over from 4.5? I re-installed everthing.

Ok, I will.
My OMF Imports from AVID are working perfectly dead on and the transitions are coming in more accurately. The series we’re conforming is cut for SD on an Adrenaline, then I get the OMF and conform the HD show. With FCP 4.5 we had a lot of slippages of audio sync and some transitions just not coming over right at all. With FCP 5, so far all is spot on and I don’t have to touch any of the transitions.

The Kona 2 does this in realtime. You have three options on the SD downconvert. Letterbox, Anamorphic and Pan and Scan.

The DVCPro HD codec looks great when you bring it in via Firewire, but it will not hold up to effects and layers.”
Actually, Final Cut Pro 5.0 has a noticeable improvement over FCP 4.5 on how it handles the DVCPro HD codec. The overall image is cleaner and renders are very sharp. We’re cutting a broadcast series utilizing the Firewire workflow all the way through and it’s working very well.
