    Hey all,

Just wanted to let you know that we’re batch capturing 6 epsiodes of a series in DVCPro HD and have zero “timecode breaks” and other timecode anomolies that would appear with almost every DVCPro HD Batch capture in FCP 4.5. We’re running our 1200A via Firewire using the DVCPro HD 720/60 Easy Setup.

[JeremyG] “Keep the good news coming.”

    Ok, I will.

My OMF Imports from AVID are working perfectly dead on and the transitions are coming in more accurately. The series we’re conforming is cut for SD on an Adrenaline, then I get the OMF and conform the HD show. With FCP 4.5 we had a lot of slippages of audio sync and some transitions just not coming over right at all. With FCP 5, so far all is spot on and I don’t have to touch any of the transitions.

    Walter,
Is this using the Automatic Duck OMF translation software
or just a straight OMF2 to FCP ?

    Thanks,
    Dan

It’s using the Duck. You have to use the Duck for an OMF import from AVID.

    Hi Walter,

so the automatic duck is working well with FCP 5?
did you have to use the name trick ” to get the Aja drivers loaded?
and lastly are you using tiger?

I remembered a few weeks ago you mentioned
that the duck wasn’t working for you.

[olivier jean] “so the automatic duck is working well with FCP 5?”

These particular projects had already been imported to FCP 4.5 and then upgraded to FCP 5.0. But so far all is going well and the recaptures in FCP 5.0 are much more accurate than they were in FCP 4.5.

[olivier jean] “did you have to use the name trick ” to get the Aja drivers loaded?”

I honestly have not heard about that one. I just installed the 1.1.1 drivers and they went right in.

[olivier jean] “and lastly are you using tiger?”

    Yep, 10.4.1 and QT 7.0.1

[olivier jean] “I remembered a few weeks ago you mentioned

I could not get an OMF to convert correctly using Tiger, but Wes Plate at the Duck could not duplicate my problems. So I’m going to try again in a few days when I get a few more OMF’s sent to me from another AVID project.

Well, using the K2 system test 2GB file size and uncompressed 1080i 10 bit setting, running Raid 3, and the disk is over 70% full (680GB used out of a possible 930GB), I get 167MB write & 175MB/sec Read. When the disk is empty i get well over 200 MB/sec. Does that help? Raid ) would go even faster, but I need the Raid 3 protection.
