No I’m basing it on the boilerplate information that’s generally provided by any network / production company either on their websites or via documentation provided and on previous experience.
Unsolicited materials are generally not welcome at networks, thus they basically tell you if you really want to submit something, go ahead, but we’ll keep it.

As Grinner notes, did you carefully read the agreement for the Portals before you submitted? Basically you are submitting it unsolicited. They “might” have something exactly like what you submitted already in consideration / pre-production / production, etc… And generally anything submitted unsolicited is deemed “owned” by the recipient when it’s received.
This is why I only submit pitches through agencies and connections. Never unsolicited.
Good luck with your class action attempt, but I’m not sure you’re going to get anywhere with that.

No, nobody charges extra for graphic work. Straight hourly or daily.
I don’t do that ala carte pricing in my shop to use certain software during edits.

I should clarify, that’s the editor only working on my equipment. What editors charge with their own gear varies wildly. It’s extremely rare that I hire an editor with their own equipment.

Editors in Atlanta make between $35 to $75/hour freelance depending on how much experience they have, the project, how good they are and the length of the contract.
For documentaries we pay strictly by the hour. There’s no reasonable way to know how long a documentary will take to edit so I bill my clients by the hour, thus, the editor gets paid by the hour.
For regular series / episodic work, it’s per project since we have a set amount of days for each edit so we can plan that way.
My full-time employees are paid hourly. We have four full time employees and a roster of 20 or so freelancers we work with on a regular basis.

All devices are governed by the connection speed. So if your storage device is FW800 for example, your speeds will be FW800 speed.
If both the device and the Mac have the Thunderbolt connection, then you’ll be able to take full advantage of the speed.

Oh no, it’s been beta for some time now.

No, that actually describes Apple’s beta program. At one time (I think FCP 6 or maybe 5) literally 10 people were in the beta program. I think for FCP 7 they might have had 100 just before the final release, but prior to that it was something like 20 to 50.
Apple has miniscule beta programs when it comes to ProApps which is why the .0 release is usually the buggiest when it comes out. When thousands suddenly get their hands on it, then the myriad of problems really shows up.

I just want to hear from someone who has beat the hell out of the thing to tell me that it’s stable.
“jaw-dropping” new interface, all new 64 bit under the hood = a lot of potential stability issues given Apple’s notoriously tiny beta program. A couple dozen editors working in very tightly controlled situations really doesn’t tell us what’s going to happen when the app is released to 1 million+ registered users with hundreds, if not thousands, of configurations.
New features are nice. Stability is paramount.

If you just need a few at a time, then any Epson that handles the media.
If you need to print 50 to 100 or more at a time, can’t recommend the Microboards PF-3 enough. We purchased one at the end of the last year and have already run over 4000 DVDs through that machine. Incredible image and we can stack up to 100 discs at a time in the hopper. Can print about 250 to 400 discs in an 8 hour day depending on the quality and amount of ink.
Works great on Mac and Windows.
