USB, FW 400, FW 800, eSata, now Thunderbolt.

Sounds promising but we have to wait for hardware to connect to.

Several innovative companies have announced Thunderbolt technology-based products, or currently plan to support Thunderbolt technology in upcoming products, including Aja*, Apogee*, Avid*, Blackmagic*, LaCie*, Promise*, and Western Digital*. Intel is working with the industry on a range of Thunderbolt technology-enabled products including computers, displays, storage devices, audio/video devices, cameras, docking stations and more.’

You know what? I’m actually kind of excited about this, if only for the euphemisms that thunderbolting will create, let alone performance upgrades.

In all seriousness, 10Gbps transfer speeds on a quad core laptop. Kick Ass!

With just the beginning of Thunderbolt technology. Is this the beginning of the end of the absolute need for a MacPro in the small studio? My main fault with a major laptop purchase was connectivity. This changes everything, well almost I guess.

[Victor Perez] “. Is this the beginning of the end of the absolute need for a MacPro in the small studio?”

Depends on your PCIe needs. I’m glad the 17″ still has the Express/34 slot.

Up to the papers, Thunderbolt won’t allow FC to use more processors, but will push the performance of the working cores.
That will be great while “the awesome” arrives (is him really here?).

    Absolutely.
I hope the black thin line on the picture still being the Express slot.
