Well, I use Procoder, so I’m not sure if this will help, but…

I always had trouble with Quicktime reference files, so I started exporting full Quicktime files for import into Procoder. Fixed all my problems, even though the file are of course much bigger.

Also, with Quicktime reference, procoder never detected the correct field order or aspect ratio. Check that Sorenson is detecting the correct values, or that you are choosing the correct values for your source. Wrong field order might be giving you the jittery video.

    Good luck!

Well, your attic should contain bins. Under each project name in the attic, you’ll see a bin folder, then another folder with the bin name, then files ending in extensions that are numbers. Find the bin folder name you are looking for, and copy the most recent of these last files to another location, rename the extension to be “avb”.
In your project, close the corrupted bin you are trying to restore. If you try to open a bin from the attic with the original still open, it will give you an error that a copy is already open. Once it’s closed, choose File/Open Bin, and browse to the copy you created from the attic. Open it, and hopefully you’ll have a bin with some recent sequences to work with.

If this is no help, check this AVID support link that deal with access denied issues: https://www.avid.com/onlineSupport/supportcontent.asp?contentID=7434

    Good luck!

By the way, your “Stuck in Lodi” video has only one audio channel (left).

We did a promo video for the MIRA foundation lately, in which I used a PD150 on tripod for a standard talking head frame, and a hand-held panasonic DVX-100a off to the side at 24p getting some “MTV” style shots. Made for a very interesting mix in the edit. The clients loved it…

    Hi Alan,

I thought I would check out your website. In case you don’t know, all four of the clips on the site have broken links.

    Ciao,
    Vito

Try opening the “Deck Configuration” setting. Make sure there is a channel listed for “Firewire on OHCI” and a device on the channel (probably “Generic DVDevice”).

If not click “add channel”, choose firewire and OHCI as the port. Then autoconfigure.

This works for me when autoconfigure does nothing from the Capture Tool.

Our minidisc recorder won’t even transfer digitally to the computer. I used to capture the analogue output directly, which worked fine.

Now, however, as I’m editing something else, I dub the minidisc to a miniDV tape. This tape becomes a digital source that I capture the same way as the rest of the tapes. You just need to remember to disable the video capture in your editing program to save disc space. Works great, and is a lifesaver in those situations where you need to reload an old project.

Since I never turn off the camera in the ceremony, the audio clip is easy to sync up. Once it’s synced, I cut it all at the same time.

Mark in and out around what you want to copy (select the tracks you want to copy as well). CRTL-C. Go to your other sequence. Park blue bar (position indicator) where you want to paste. Press CTRL-V.

If it inserts, try pressing red arrow to get into overwrite mode…

June 24, 2005 at 10:20 pm in reply to: When shooting a Wedding over 60 minutes?

Well, of course I talk to the DJ at the start of the night, ask what the schedule is, and request that he give me a heads up before he is going to introduce the next speech or whatever. But, some of them forget, or get surprised themselves when there is an unexpected request for a speech, song, or some such. Once in a while you get bit…

83 minute tapes sound like a great idea. Where I get caught once in a while is at the reception. you working on your last 10 minutes of tape, and the father of the bride decides to jump up and do a 15 minute speech. Sigh…
