Sony HDR-fx1 and Avid xpress
A friend is working on a pc and has avid xpress pro HD, and trying to capture from sony hdr-fx1 and the capture tool says there is no deck, and it is going through fire wire which picks up on adobe premire pro and windows movie maker, but not avid, we have tried checking decks, we tried to auto configure and still there is no signal. Any tips?

Try opening the “Deck Configuration” setting. Make sure there is a channel listed for “Firewire on OHCI” and a device on the channel (probably “Generic DVDevice”).
If not click “add channel”, choose firewire and OHCI as the port. Then autoconfigure.
This works for me when autoconfigure does nothing from the Capture Tool.
