I just got the Sony PMW EX1,took a few shots with it and tried transfering the clips to my Mac i book. The SXS cards are seen as two seperate drives by the i book, the contents are also seen, however the clip browsing software provided with the camera is not working with my i book. When I try to open the clip browsing application I get the following message- “YOU CANNOT OPEN THE APPLICATION XDCAM EX CLIP BROWSER BECAUSE IT IS NOT SUPPORTED ON THIS SYSTEM”. Mac i book is with the motorola processor and the software is updated to the latest version. Please help out! thanks best vinod

I am preparing to film with the XDCAM EX 1 that will be reaching me in a few days time. I have two 16 GB SxS cards and hope to transfer all the filmed material to 250 GB Rugged all terrain LaCie hard drive ( with fire wire 400 and 800) on location using my Mac i book with 1 GB RAM. Please let me know if this should work out fine. I cannot afford to buy a Mac book Pro at the moment. seeking your views-

My settings are right- 48K and 16 bits. Keeping in mind the 2GB file size limitation of OMF i divided the 82 minutes project into nine segments and exported each segment separately. The file size of each segment is about 200 to 250 MB and the total is 1.8 GB. On export i can see only one icon , there are no media folders like we see in Final cut pro projects. I was told the files are embedded into one project icon.
    Thanks for your response.

  • Thanks so much for answering my query. Please allow me to make some more clarification- I read in one of the postings that while digitising an entire tape of 60 minutes there is a chance of the sound drifting out of sync. Further I wish to know if there is absolutely no loss of audio or video quality. I do take your file transfer point the good feature about DV. Thanks again for giving me your time. • Hi forum friends,
I have filmed more than 100 mini DV tapes for a long form documentary that i am working on. I have shot the material using Panasonic DVX 100a.
I have to start editing the material on a G5 using final cut pro 4.5. Wish to know from the forum if there is any quality difference, if one were to use a consumer mini Dv camera to digitise the footage, i have the option of using DSR-45, DSR-11 but will have to spend a lot of money hiring one. Any suggestions, seeking your help.
    Thanks
