  • EXPORT OF OMF FORMAT FROM FCP 4.5 HD

Posted by Vinod Raja on July 18, 2007 at 12:13 pm

I have completed an 82 minutes film in FCP 4.5. To mix the audio , I exported the tracks in OMF format with 5 seconds handle. When my sound engineer opened the OMF file he could see only the time codes as a media offline file , there was no embedded media . Is this because of the 2 GB limitation of OMF format. seeking help on the forum.

I recently had some issues exporting OMF at 24 bits. My sound mixer was unable to read any media in the 24 bit files, so we wound up giving him 16 bit files instead.

Check your OMF export settings & make sure that they’re set to 48k at 16 bit.

My settings are right- 48K and 16 bits. Keeping in mind the 2GB file size limitation of OMF i dived the 82 minutes project into nine segments and exported each segment separately. The file size of each segment is about 200 to 250 MB and the total is 1.8 GB. On export i can see only one icon , there are no media folders like we see in Final cut pro projects. I was told the files are embedded into one project icon.
    Thanks for your response.
