[Devin Crane] “Yeah Soundtrack Pro is done for,IMHO. However I would not be surprised if you see a Motion/Shake hybrid of sorts pop up. DVDSP was dead several Studio’s ago and will probably not be supported any longer.”
DVDSP is dead? What’s going to be the new DVD program? If it was dead several studios ago what have people been using to create DVDs?

Mr. C.S.
Sorry to sort of derail this. But you mentioned SHAKE. I had gotten into Apple full swing just as SHAKE was discontinued. Somebody told me it was the Combustion of the Apple world. Is there any reason to hope for some new program like SHAKE to come out or has After Effects pretty much become the same type of program?
Thanks,

Over the responses I’ve been encouraged not to worry. However one of my lines was misquoted. I did not say 299 was out of line. I said it seemed way too cheap for FCP alone. Which would be a good thing we all would agree, it just made me do a double take.

Can’t get the quote button to work in my darn fire fox browser.

There has been a lot of speculation about Apple killing off some other Final Cut Studio apps,
—–That scares me. As a past Discreet *Edit editor any time I hear of companies dropping support for programs that have become loved just irritates me to no end. Talk to any editor that worked with *Edit. That program was magic. And now so may Apple programs I’ve come to love are also “magic.”
“Video Guys” are a sponsor for COW aren’t they? I read on their site that FCPX might be a step down from FCP7?
And 299 for the whole program? Is that cheap? I work with FCP7 now but I don’t handle the books in the office, all this stuff is purchased for me. Was FCP7 by itself around that price?
Man I hope they don’t kill off Color. And if they do I hope we can still integrate Color with FCPX.
Balls of stress begin to form as I grit my teeth reading this stuff. What can I say, I’m a doomsdayer 🙂
BUT what I did see at the Keynote in some of the grainy youtube vids, I have to admit it did look pretty awesome. It’s the whole comparing it to Imovie is what’s giving me that feel of disappointment.
THE SKY IS FALLING!

Thanks for both responses. I’ll book mark this for future reference.
I got lucky. After making this post I did some other things online. Not meaning to wait on the disk I just got distracted. Then all the sudden the drive start reving like when a DVD is in it’s burn mode. So instead of turning my computer off I just left it on over night. I came back in this morning and it was ejected.
I threw the disk away and all is good again.
Thanks again,

Great to see a thread with this title.
I work for a city municipal office. Right when we got CS4, CS5 came out. And budgets in all city offices are extremely tight right now, so there was no way for any upgrades to happen. I was told between the two there wasn’t a huge amount of difference to get upset over.
I’m also about to get my own set up to do freelance stuff. Can’t use office stuff unfortunately. And I heard that CS6 might get a release Summer 2011. It’s causing me to wait on my computer purchase. I don’t want to buy ANYTHING at the moment till NAB passes and until the next major software is updated.
I know the waiting is something you can’t really do since stuff is always changing. But if you know something is just a few months away I think waiting is OK.

SOrry for 2 posts at once, when I came to this forum all the sudden this post kept coming up when I would select, “Create new post” The message body of this one would appear like I had not posted it. I don’t know what happened or why.

I just remembered something that I should have known, I just do it all at rote so much I didn’t even think about it.
When I work with 16:9 and throw 4:3 in the project, I normally just export the project via QT Conversion or the QT Movie with the 16:9 settings and the 4:3 video stays the same within that project, just with the black bars to the side.
I just told him that, and he’s gonna mess with it later.
However if you all have any other MORE SMARTER suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks,
