If this started happening on its own, there’s a possibility that either a) you installed another program related to audio that introduced updates to codecs, etc. or maybe b) Windows updates did same with an upgrade to Windows Media Player.
Do you know if you added any new audio software around the time this started happening? What exactly is happening to your WAVs on the timeline that’s making them “frankensteins”?

This can also be accomplished by just applying the reverb to the track itself after editing the last bit you need reverb for and putting on its own track. However your suggestion would work great if you have multiple tracks to send to the bus and need to control it globally.

Thank you, all great tips. For now I’ve been doing my audio work that requires this kind of thing in Sonar. Perhaps they’ll incorporate some more sophisticated audio editing features in the future.

FREE with a twist. Giving your credit card info and then having to proactively cancel the subscription is a bit risky to me. I’m not familiar with this site but if others are and they’ve used it before with no issues, I’m also interested in knowing.

When you placed the content on the timeline, Vegas created a video and audio track. Simply right click on the audio track and delete it if you really no longer want it. You can also mute it with the circle with a line through it button.
Then, drag and drop practically any sound file on the timeline and you’re done.

I had my Dynamic RAM preview set way too high. It was at 5GB. I set it back to 386MB and all’s well. USER ERROR!!

I started doing just that a couple of years ago, but on a limited basis. I work mainly for non-profits that need editing done and charge a flat rate for the project versus a per hour charge. Provided I’m given enough time, I can accomplish what they need. What I came to find out is that editing, as you probably already know, is tedious work, especially if you’re being creative. I strive to be creative in my work. I have a hard time delivering simplistic work and always need to try and stretch the envelope a little. This is great for my clients, but causes me to spend way more time doing it haha!
I’d say test the waters with your idea on a small scale and don’t expect anything. Or, if you can find a larger project that you can charge a couple of G’s for on a regular basis, that will let you stretch your time, even better. The clients that are antsy about deadlines and nag you are too much for me 🙂
