It will not. I remember seeing software combined with hardware to do this on the fly. It’s not really worth it in my opinion, and you will loose substantial quality on the process.

If your laptop has an Express card slot, you could always get an Express card that provides Firewire.

    Hi James,

It looks like you may be using a DV preset.

Change the format on top to Windows Media first, preset to custom, and you should then be able to pick your resolution.

Also check that the files are 8 bits/channel, Premiere doesn ‘t support anything above that. If you have After Effects, you could convert them there.

Unfortunately, I’ve only used our MBP this way so I can’t test it on a Mac Pro. I would make sure that the latest drivers are installed. Is this an ATI Radeon card?

Strange indeed. How are your outputs configured?

Try using your second card for extended monitors only. I’m assuming you are using 2 graphics cards?

    The sequence settings shouldn’t matter.

You should be able to hit the contextual menu on the top right side of source/program panel and choose the display to use under playback settings > External device

    Hi Julian,

Maker sure the monitor is enabled in your display settings and uncheck “Mirror displays”, so that it becomes extended. It should then show up in Premiere.

    Hi Greg,

If you have CS5, that would be a perfect job for After Effects’ Rotobrush

    Hi Jonathan,

No, you will have to use Adobe Media Encoder. The main reason for this is otherwise you would have to wait for the render to finish in order to use Premiere again. That’s the way After Effects works.

December 31, 2010 at 4:48 pm in reply to: Premiere 4.2.1 and AVC-Intra Footage

    Hi Michael,

I don’t think Premiere CS4 ever fully supported AVCIntra, even though it was listed as a preset, unless it came late in the game as an update.

In your case, you are dealing with a wrapped Quicktime file, and no longer native AVCIntra. I would first take a look here and see if the QT to AVCIntra transcoder is able to convert the footage for you. Tjen import it into Premiere again.

Otherwise, you will likely need to find someone with a copy of FCP and convert to a format supported by Premiere. QT Animation, QT Motion Jpe, QT PNG…
