Hi – and Happy New Year all.

I am using PPro CS5 on a Mac Pro, with three monitors connected. If I have PPro on monitor 1, is it possible to have real time playback on monitor 2. I’m pretty sure I managed to do this in CS3 using the Desktop playback settings, but whatever I do I only seem to see an option for DV – i.e. using an external deck or camera.

In Encore I get options for preview on monitors 2 and 3. Perhaps I’m doing something wrong in Premiere…?

    Thanks very much

    Julian

    Hi Julian,

Maker sure the monitor is enabled in your display settings and uncheck “Mirror displays”, so that it becomes extended. It should then show up in Premiere.

Thanks Vince. All 3 displays are visible to the Mac and the ‘mirror’ option is unchecked. Which sequence settings should I use please?

    Regards

    The sequence settings shouldn’t matter.

You should be able to hit the contextual menu on the top right side of source/program panel and choose the display to use under playback settings > External device

How strange. I only get the option on ‘none’ or ‘DV’. Yet, in Encore I can see all 3 monitors….

Strange indeed. How are your outputs configured?

Try using your second card for extended monitors only. I’m assuming you are using 2 graphics cards?

I’m on a Mac Pro – so one graphics card supports three monitors.

Unfortunately, I’ve only used our MBP this way so I can’t test it on a Mac Pro. I would make sure that the latest drivers are installed. Is this an ATI Radeon card?
