    It will not. I remember seeing software combined with hardware to do this on the fly. It’s not really worth it in my opinion, and you will loose substantial quality on the process.

    If your laptop has an Express card slot, you could always get an Express card that provides Firewire.

    I know this is an old question. Just recently trying to find out myself if USB 3.0 is now working for Premiere. I am working on the cheapside with a Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle with a Thunderbolt port. Due to my own misunderstandings, I thought 1394b and thunderbolt were the same connection. NO, they are not. Why the heck cheap solution are so difficult to find OR find info on is just crazy.
    Anyway, I am now waiting for a thunderbolt to firewire adapter, as I have a 1394b card and the aforementioned BM Shuttle with the thunderbolt connection.
    I need to capture live video from a switcher in a studio.
