No clear answer here, depends on text size and speed. The basic rule is to use even multiple of 50 for PAL or even multiple of 60 for NTSC for scrolling time from top to bottom.

I think you are seeing artifact that you can’t catch in real time.

You could try enabling frame belending and se if that helps.

A better option would be a plugin like Twixtor which creates tweening frames.

If the broadcast itself is neither satire or news, you likely would have a good case. Now, you’ll need a lawyer willing to take that case…

Copyrights in the news business is a tough area to pursue because “Fair Use” may apply, for example if the footage was used to illustrate a story.

If they are using footage repeatedly, or if you happened to be in the news business, that may weight in your favor since that would eat into your profit.

Professionally, you would probably upscale everything, although 320 to 1920 would be pretty rough. There are plugins like instant HD that can improve lower resolution file. At the very least, you would want a widescreen SD sequence. 854×480 in square pixels (desktop preset).

The best solution would probably be to get creative with the smaller files and maybe use them as PIP inside motion graphics, or as tiles with other footage.

Hi Vincent,

I personally never delete footage but I guess I depends on what is is.

If you produce videos for clients, you should include a couple a hard disks in your quote for archive/backup. Client usually understand that it’s needed unless they want to provide a hard drive themselves and keep it.

When you are done with the project, and can choose to trim and copy in a new location. This will result in a new folder with video files trimmed to the length of clips on the timeline.

I would export to 23.976, then bring into After Effects to add the Pull Down using this plugin.
