Hi Sascha,
She could drop the files into Adobe Media Encoder, select them all, and set the encoder to something like Prores (assuming she’s on a Mac), on a PC, it’s a bit more complicated, since most lossless formats will result in very large files without going to a third party encoder.
As far as not getting audio, that’s a bit odd. Does she have the entire original folders from the card? That’s what she needs.

I would try cleaning these files out, it’s possible some were corrupted or indexed wrong in the move.

I have not used this particular camera, but I don’t see anything preventing you from importing the footage into Premiere.
The compression can be a problem if you are doing grading or compositing. In that case, you would be better off with an external recorder.

That’s because menus are limited to 4 colors maximum by DVD standard. In your case, you will have to get rid of the glow around the text. You could make it part of the background, but not the menu text layer itself.

Are you sure the info displayed on Windows is accurate? Are you seeing a difference in quality with different bit rates?
Try opening the video in Quicktime and use show movie info just to be sure.

It works great, you just assign the device as the line input in your preferences and you’re done. I used both devices in the last year, it’s very clean.
