Thanks for the reply. Ended up converting the footage due to the original XDCam Discs no longer being available. Since switching to CS6 we have been keeping folder structures of all incoming media. Unfortunately this project is a few years old and the only media available came from XDCam Transfer.
ThanksVictor

LOL. Love the “Edit Director” option. I could use that.

In sequence settings you can change your output settings.
Sequence Settings > Audio Outputs
Select how many track you want to output from 2 to 24. Select dual mono.
In the timeline you can select which track goes where by right clicking on the space next to the Speaker icon.
Hope that helpsVictor

If you have the original XDCam folder structure from the XDCam Discs on the drive. You can download the XDCam Transfer plugin to convert the files to Quicktime.
https://www.servicesplus.sel.sony.com/sony-software-model-PDZKP1.aspxNot sure how it would work for XDCam EX.

Actually yes I had a Voiceover tool problem recently with FCP/Lion setup. A few crashes back to back whenever I tried changing the tool from 44k to 48k. Seemed like it was solved by resetting the capture scratch for some reason. That was very strange. So far all good now.

Running FCP 7.0.3 on MacPro equipped with Lion since October. Have not done the latest Lion update yet. FCP runs great. Use mostly ProRes 422 / DVCPro HD Sequences. Mastering in SD using MXO2 to Beta SP & Digi Beta work. Like how Lion switches between applications with a swipe.

Similar to Stib’s zoom blur cross transition.
Search Stibs Transitions here on the cow or google. Follow instructions on how to install.
old set of free plugins, but still very useful.Victor

It could be fast yes. But there is a lot more to creating a news piece than just cutting. Accumulating footage, shared storage, cooperating with others, what will be used for playback? File. Tape, Live to air from timeline? Doable, but not sure FCPX can do all thats needed yet.

July 6, 2011 at 8:25 pm in reply to: Exporting a 4:3 letterbox from a 16:9 project. Can it really be this hard?Long workaround is to export Native Quicktime (HD). Now your QT movie will be 1920 X 1080. Open that Quicktime in Quicktime Pro or Compressor THEN export as SD (4×3) to whatever frame size you need.
Hope that helps,Victor
